Ahh, the kickoff of summer. Everyone is in a great mood today knowing they have 3 days off ahead of them! Get out and try something new this holiday weekend.
1. Wear Your Heart on Your Nails
Never say never, and that even means to nail art. Have a little fun this weekend and show your pride for the Red, White and Blue. I know it’s a little intimidating, but with a little patience, a good tutorial and the right tools, I think everyone can achieve a great nail art look. This is one of my favorites as it’s simple, clean and fun. I think the key to Nail Art is know your limits – if you’re not that experienced, don’t pretend to be, because nothing is worse than a bad DIY Nail Art. Keep it simple like the one pictured to the left.
What you’ll need: A red polish like Essie’s Really Red Polish, a bold blue, silver glitter nail and a bold white. Make sure you have tape to cut strips for where you’d like to add the blue. Layer them on the nail after it’s dried completely, and paint with the blue polish – tape is the secret to keeping this look clean and perfected. Add a heart for the finishing touch! 2. Sip Wine at Barnsdall Park (LA Residents)

If you’re in Los Angeles this weekend, this look pretty #maj. Wine, relaxation and music on top of a hill with the sun setting and great bites from Heirloom LA – what could be a better way to end your week? You’re welcome.
3. Make Something!

We had SO much fun at Create & Cultivate this past weekend which COMPLETELY left me inspired to get creative more often. We made super cute DIY vases from Izze bottles – who would have thunk?!
What you’ll need: Izze bottles or anything other glass bottle that you’d like to pain – get creative, you can use anything! Water based paint from Home Depot – ($3-$6 dollars depending on how many colors you want). A a paint brush or two. Newspaper or magazines so you don’t color the floors. ;) and some beautiful flowers to decorate with once you’re finished. Grab some wine with friends, put on some music and get creative!
4. SHOP Floral

Zara is killing it lately with their Spring 2013 collection. It’s definitely worth a pop in.
5. Plant a Seed and Let It Grow
Isn’t it a hassle to buy herbs EVERY time you want to cook something nice? I started the beginning of an indoor herb garden with my very own basil plant (can you sense the pride!). It’s so fun to water it every couple days and see it come to life (I can only imagine what I’ll be like with a baby if I’m this proud of my basil plant! Ha.). If you have a home and a yard, get out there and spend some time with the soil. If you’re in an apartment like me, you can still have fun with a small herb garden for your kitchen. Everything you need is at Home Depot. Get your hands dirty!
