I love the train station in Glendale, hidden down the street away from everything. The historic building is magical at sunset, and happens to be only 10 minutes from my place. It’s definetly a great place for photos and beautiful at dusk. By now you’ve seen my faux fur vest, that goes with just about anything. What’s on your wish list?

There’s been a lot of buzz around Art District’s latest gem, Bestia LA, and it’s officially open last Friday after much anticipation. I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant with a couple of my fellow blogger babes, Jenny Wu from Good, Bad & Fab , and Taye Hansberry, from She Likes Stuff. If you’re anything like me and miss the New York City vibe here in Los Angeles, a visit to Bestia DTLA will make you feel right back at home. Nestled away in the Arts District, this area is becoming one of my favorite places in Los Angeles.
Expect open an industrial feel, exposed brick, large windows that open in the patio covered in vine and an open kitchen where you can watch the married duo, chef Ori Menashe (Angelini Osteria) and pastry chef Genevieve Gergis, whip up some magic. The reviews have been nothing but fantastic and after visiting, I now see why.
Here are just a few of the amazing items on the menu..
Olives – $5 for a bowl of delicious olives.
Roasted Vegetables – beautiful presentation
Pizza Bianca – some of the best pizza around. A little taste of Napoli
Chestnut Papardelle – poached egg deliciousness on Mushroom Ragu
Squid Ink Pasta – made from the highest quality dry pasta there is. This is one of favorites and i don’t even love pasta, cooked al denti to perfection with a touch of spice.
Roasted marrow bone – I don’t eat red meat but everyone else ADORED this dish.
Dessert – anything from pastry chef Genevieve Gergis is amazing. She whipped up some coffee ice cream for us from mostly milk, not cream, and we all could not believe how amazing it was. To give you an idea, Nancy Silverstein tried one of her cookies and was so impressed, it is now on the menu at Bread.

Still loving my faux leather pants! This time I paired it with a white button down by Odylyne, a faux fur vest (channeling Rachel Zoe) and my new shoes from Sole Society. The hat was a last minute addition. I found it at a garage sale for $1! What do you think, do you like this look? XO, SWP
Today I’m excited to introduce to you, Nathan Fox. I was fortunate enough to catch up with the talented Los Angeles based singer/song writer for a live video interview last week. I was really impressed when I discovered his work and I knew his talent was something that will take him far. You will love his soothing voice, folk melodies and thoughtful lyrics. Nathan Fox left San Diego after high school and began touring with a band based out of New York. It’s pretty evident that Nathan is doing exactly what he was born to do. Watch the video and listen on and you’ll know exactly what I mean.
LISTEN to Nathan Fox and read his commentary below:
“Cutie Pie” is probably the happiest song I have ever written. I wrote it when I was in a wonderful relationship with a fantastic woman who had a way of making me feel as though she was all I needed to be happy. It is absolutely impossible for me to listen to or perform that song without smiling. ~Nathan Fox
I wrote “Losing hope” as a bit of a cynical glimpse into the entertainment industry here in Los Angeles. I have always envisioned it as a musical that is set on Hollywood blvd and stars a beautiful broken actress and a struggling songwriter. For this recording of the song I had the amazing opportunity to work with the very talented singer/songwriter. Caitlin Rose who is featured singing beautiful harmonies throughout the song. Her lovely voice gives life to the female lead in the song. ~Nathan Fox
“Devil & The Hourglass” is my own shot at telling the story of Faust and Mephistopheles. In my story I am the Faust character and Mephistopheles takes the form of an irresistibly sexy temptress. ~Nathan Fox
Hey Everyone! I am so excited to finally share with you all my new look, thanks to the fabulous Vered Salon and Hairdreams! A couple weeks ago I visited Vered Valensi, from Vered Salon, to create a new look with extensions. Vered Salon is the leading salon in Hollywood for Hair Extensions. Her background is extensive, working with photographers such as Annie Liebowitz, Marcus Klinko, Willy Camden, and has worked on shows such as MTV’s “Becoming” and “The Simple Life,” with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, creating their hair extensions and color.
She mentioned you’d be surprised just how many women have hair extensions these days, as most women are not born with managble, gorgeous hair. With the harsh sun of Los Angeles and after repeat dye processing, it’s not easy to grow our your hair and keep it looking healthy and strong. That’s where Hairdreams comes in. It’s one the top brands for hair extensions, using only the best quality hair. I truly love having long hair and the instant gratification is priceless. Watch below to see the before and after.
If you’re interested in hair extensions, here is what you should know about Hair Quikkies with Hairdreams:
– premium quality tape-in hair extensions by Hairdreams
– 100% real human hair
– it integrates seamlessly and invisibly into hair
– in-salon professional application service
– for more information log onto www.hairdreamsusa.com
For further information about Vered Salon or to make an appointment, visit www.veredsalon.com.
In addition of being an expert in her field, Vered Valensi is also a pleasure to be around, with such a beautiful, gracious personality. For me, finding a stylist that you feel comfortable around, not pressured, and can have a great time is key. We had such a fun time and learned many new techniques from her.
If you have any interest in extensions, I highly recommend them. It’s an easy way to enhance your look. What do you think of my new look? I would love to hear your feedback.

Wynn Myer’s love of photography began when a friend introduced her to the high school darkroom. She’s worked for fashion designer, Zac Posen, and attended the International Center of Photography, a place I visited often when I lived in New York City! Take a look at some of her recent beautiful black and white work and get to know Wynn! Below Wynn takes us through the ‘behind the scenes’ of some of her work.
This image is from a recent shoot with Shari of Charm School Vintage (an amazing store in Austin) styling & Delaney, from Wallflower Management, modeling. It was August in Texas so the heat was pretty brutal – over 100ºF! After driving to the location in an old Volkswagen van with no air conditioning, we hiked down to a swimming hole lugging all the equipment and wardrobe. This photo was taken toward the end of the shoot when things were starting to wind down, and we were all enjoying the cool water.
This was quite a spontaneous shoot, so the moment evolved organically. The subject, Sara, was braiding her hair by the window & wearing one of my vintage dresses. I love how the hard stripes, the horizontal lines, come across in black and white.
Liz went on the porch to have a smoke while were taking a break during a shoot out in the hill country. She was just having this beautiful, contemplative moment. It was one of those things where I just knew there was a picture and Liz did not move. The photo was taken with a hand-me-down camera from my mom, a 35mm Canon Sure Shot. The highlights in the back are completely blown out, but I love the imperfection.
This photo is from one of my first test shoots. We had been walking around a college campus & spotted this old greenhouse. I asked Delaney to stand in front of the structure and for just a second, she turned to look at her reflection in the glass windows. The dress is my own, vintage.
A Little More About Wynn?
She has four pups, so a lot of her non-photo time is spent snuggling with them!
She shoots with both film & digital- a Contax 645 is her go to tool.
She works for a photo editor & marketing consultant and she is also a Photocommunications student at St.
A few favorites photographers of Wynn’s right
now are: Philip-Lorca diCorcia,Nan Goldin, Paul Costello. Although she admits there are so many photographers whose work I admire- the list goes on and on!
She loves being able to have music on a shoot; it can really set the tone for the whole process. One song she
has been loving lately is Herzan / Enta Fen by Soap Kills.
Check out more of her work:
It’s been so great to have some time to get out and take photos. This is, one if my favorite parts of being a blogger. Even though I still get a little camera shy, it’s fun to get creative with style and photography.
I added a couple pieces to my wardrobe that I am really loving. First, my new faux leather pants by SL8. I’ve worn them multiple times – dates, bowling, blogging events, dinner, and every time I wear them, I feel great in them. Super great purchase for only $40 form Loehmanns. The necklace, oh the necklace. I know this is a stunner, because I’ve received multiple compliments within the first hours of wearing. It is a complimented piece from a new jewelry site offering wearing art pieces – j’adore! Left of Right provides a free-spirited aesthetic that represents the wearer’s lifestyle. I love the tribal aesthetic here, and the fact that you could put this on with simple plain t-shirt, and that’s on you need.
The top was recent purchase because I needed something to wear and I didn’t have time to go home and change. Somehow I walked out of Bloomingdales with this gorgeous oxblood All Saints top. I’m not complaining!
I have more to share of another shoot I did this weekend, so make sure to check back to the blog. Plus, I have a giveaway coming up from Jewel Mint.
Look at these adorable guys? And, they sing! Really well.
WU LYF are a band from Manchester, England that originally became known for creating a mystery about themselves. Apparently they were the most talked about band in Manchester’s last year, according to Paul Lester of The Guardian. And why? Because they wouldn’t talk. They declined requests for interviews and didn’t release much information to the press. Genius and comical really. On top of that, their music is good. Really good.
I was estatic to receive Essie’s Fall 2012 collection to test out. After winning many awards, it’s clear why people pay $8 a polish. It’s much thinner and doesn’t clump as some polishes do. In addition, they don’t chip as easily either. Out of this collection, I”m loving Mochachino, its shimmer is perfect for the holidays. Berry Hard is lovely for keeping up in with Fall’s ever popular oxblood trend! Which is your favorite? xoxo ~ SWP
With Oxblood being such a big trend this season, this color is impossible not to love. A deep red nail pairs well with black, brown, yellow, and deep blue tones. Get on the oxblood trend!

You’re a girly girl and you always will be. Hey, there is nothing wrong with that , as no matter what trends are in season, we’ll always come back to nuetrals and classics. This beautiful color adds a touch of polish, without standing out. It’s neautral enough that it goes with pretty much anything. Hey, you may even through on a pair of pearls for the occasion!

When you’re in the mood for a little color, but don’t want to go bright, try Essie’s Bahama Mama. Wear this with floral prints, tropical patters, and it pairs nicely with browns as well.

Okay, let’s admit it, the same shades of pink can get a little repetitive. And, some girls just aren’t pink girls, they like to funk it a little bit more. Midnight Cami is perfect for that – just makes sure to keep everything else clean and stylish, to ensure it’s not an overall crazy miss. Done right, this polish can be the perfect show stopper.

This smoky plush taupe color is perfect for fall – it goes with just about everything.

Most of Essie’s polishes are DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free.
