It seems everyone is obsessed with this crop-top trend, me included! However, it’s easy done wrong. There’s a few things to keep in mind when approaching this trend. First, it’s best to think classy as to much skin can end up looking, eh-hem, dare I say ‘slutty,’ rather than chic. There’s a rule of thumb I’ve always tried to go by – if the top is tight, go loose on the bottom and vice-versa. So, think high-waisted full skirt in a midi or skater skirt and you’re sure to look adorable. For today’s post, I’m highlighting a sure-fire way to look oh-so-chic!

onlinesalezaraThere’s a key to good fashion without breaking the bank. It’s knowing what to buy and when. While FAST FASHION has definitely become a thing of today, there’s one store that stands out in my mind, and I’m sure yours too. Zara seems to be some of the best quality in the fast fashion category and the store that’s consistently producing amazing styles for a reasonable price. While I love Topshop, I can’t always pay what they’re asking for, and while H&M and Forever21 do have some amazing pieces, the dig is more time consuming and challenging because of the vast size store. The quality also, is not the same as Zara, and you may only get a couple wears out of it.

I’m constantly on a hunt for good pieces to add to my wardrobe and monitoring when to buy it. Yesterday, I visited Zara and it was nuts. I knew it would be easier to shop the pieces and sizes that I couldn’t find online. There’s a really good sale going on and it’s a great time to buy.

Saturday Style | Floral Blazers

There is nothing that says spring more than a FLORAL BLAZER!

You’ve seen them on celebrities like Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, and Lauren Conrad, from red carpet functions to daily street style outfits. Get flower-bombed and styled for the season with one of these amazing blazers.

What to keep in mind

Blazers are all about fit. If the blazer is not fitting you right, it doesn’t matter how much you paid or the type of pattern, it’s going to look off. Try to find a blazer that fits right in your arms, isn’t too tight in the shoulder but it should be fitting. Sometimes it’s best to go a size up and take it to a seamstress if it doesn’t fit you perfectly.

How to style..

Dress it up or down – both styles work great. It’s often seen dressed down with a pair of skinny jeans and heels, but can be thrown over a maxi (shown above) or paired with a  high waisted skater skirt to make it extra girly.

Distressed Denim

Sometimes living on the edge is exactly what we need. Riding on the back of motorcycles, booking a flight the night before your trip and skinny dipping with your friends at midnight. If that’s not exactly what’s happening for you every weekend, dressing like it might give you the edge you’ve always wanted and a little distressed denim can  help. Feel tough and get that ‘insta-cool’ vibe by adding a little rips and wear to your wardrobe. There are also tons of DIYs for distressed denim as well. The Denim Blog shares 5 great ones here.

My love affair for jumpers started a long time ago. I’m pretty sure I own at least 4 black jumpers – no joke – and yes, of course, I want more in bright colors, florals and jeans. I went to get dressed yesterday for a BBQ and realized A) I need more *cute and comfortable shoes for day and B) jumpers are still AMAZIN; great for day or night.

It’s always a struggle for me to look cute during the daytime. These outfits embody ‘casual cool’ for any weekend outing. I’ve been eyeing the floral jumper from Top Shop since their media shopping preview – it’s EVERYTHING. I’m sure you may have seen it styled on some of the celebrities by now. The white boots that I’ve paired with it are my next obsession. I love whites and creams for because they’re neutral, soft and are a great alternative to black, which I get so sick of as I lived in New York for years. Whites and creams lend a softer, overall feel. I found these bad boys at Nasty Gal. Add a touch of makeup for an natural beauty look for day and a chic colorful (but not too bright) bag. I chose a mint  handbag (perfect for Spring trends) from DSW. There are tons of great options for only $39.95

Then of course there is the amazing jean Jumper! The jean on jean look is HUGE right now. The best thing about this piece is you don’t have to think about what you’re wearing. Throw it on with a heel, bootie or flat and you already look amazing.  A popped lip, maybe a few accessories and you’re ready-to-go. This jean jumper is from ASOS, just a little over $100. You’ve probably seen the Rag & Bone floral bomber this season which to me is a MUST HAVE if you can afford it. I’ll be searching for other options as well as I know most can’t. Literally, this jacket makes any outfit ‘super cool,’ as most Rag & Bone pieces do. Super Maje.

Saturdays are my FAVORITE day of the week. Jump into your next weekend with a cute jumper and I promise you’ll love the ease, comfort and get tons of compliments. XOXO, SWP

A lot of women are intimidated by bright colors. Trust me, I get it. But there’s no reason you shouldn’t partake in the bright color fun with at least your accessories. Adding a pop of color with your clutch, handbag or shoe is one of the easiest ways to brighten up your look.

How to: keep it neutral with the rest of your look. If you’re going to add two different brights to your look, make sure they flow together. Play it safe with blacks, whites and neutral colors as you’re base if you’re not sure. I love neons, reds and pinks – make sure to keep the colors brights and bold. Pastels will not give you the desired look. Lastly, have fun with it! It’s a playful fun look and it’s a great way to show you don’t take yourself too seriously, either.

Short Suits Spring 2013 Trend

There is something charming about a short suit. It’s classy without being too stuffy and while they’re definitely ‘office appropriate’ they’re playful enough for a night out. Tory Burch, Jason Wu, Elie Saab were just a few of the designers who recognized this wearable yet stylish take on menswear for Spring. While you can keep it chic with a pair of heels, I also love a more casual, edgy take on the suit. Add a wedged bootie or chic hat and you’ll be sure to stand out, in the best possible way. Shop my picks below – I adore the floral suit – tres chic!

If you don’t already own one of these fabulous bib necklaces, now is the time to get one. They’re simple and amazing, dressing up any outfit from ordinary, to outstanding!

How to wear:

The best part of these fabulous necklaces is they’re simple to wear since they do most of the work. I love the look of a button up white blouse button to the top with the bib necklace layer over the shirt. It that’s a little too quirky for you, throw your necklace on under a blazer, a pair of skinny jeans, and heels. It’s an instant chic yet glamours look. These days simplicity is sometimes too simple so don’t be afraid to put your necklace on over a printed dress – mixing prints is the new way to go these days! If you’re a little hesitant about that, don’t be afraid to email a friend, or me, I can help you figure out what works and what doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to be daring and bold – these bib necklaces will give you instant glamour!

We all know many, many designers have debuted their discounted collections at Target, and they don’t seem to stop. We’re not complaining! Who wouldn’t want a chance to score some high designs at prices under $50.

Prabal Gurung’s collection for target is set to launch about a week before Valentine’s Day and apparently the collection is inspired by some good ol’ fashioned LOVE. Spring is obvious with it’s brights neons, reds and pinks dresses, heels and flirty prints. The collection offers a sense of glamour, as in his couture line, yet a playful feel that is suitable for teenagers and a working mom alike.

We’re so excited about this one, you’ll know where to find us on February 10th. To see the full lookbook, view Refinery29.com.
