FASHION TRENDS

{Pink + Grey | Sunday at Sundown}

One of my favorite things about being a fashion blogger, is having the opportunity to use photography as a medium creativity.  Los Angeles has everything you could want for a cool backdrop from hotels, to graffiti walls, to the mountains, or sea.  It’s amazing how many fun places there are to shoot in Los Angeles.

While I was on my way to an event to view Wren’s SS12 collection, in collaboration by a short film with Gia Coppola (post to come soon on Style Section LA), I stumbled upon this amazing pink wall.  I’d tell you where it is, but I’d have to steal your camera.

If nothing else, I hope this post inspires you get creative.  I love how photography can instantly turn into art, while style being a medium to create.

xxx, love always, Style Wax Poetic

{Trend Watch: Printed Blazers for Spring}

Although the nights remain cold, the days are getting warm and with 20 days until the first day of spring, now is the best time to prepare your wardrobe. Say good-bye to heavy knits and wool peacoats and say hello to loud and playful prints! This spring, printed blazers are in and make a fun layering piece to your everyday looks. They’re fun for work and fitting for happy hour with friends. If you’re feeling extra bold, mix and match prints! Another major trend this spring. A little trend report I put together in InDesign :). {Backstage Pass | Glamhouse Opening Soiree}

Last Thursday evening, I had the opportunity to attend the launch party of Glamhouse, in West Hollywood. The event showcased pieces from coveted celebrity-designed jewelry brands which were made in collaboration with famous jeweler, Pascal Mouawad. For years, Pascal has been forging strong links between celebrities and the world of fashion jewelry, including collections such as House of Harlow by Nicole Ritchie, Belle Noel by Kim Kardashian, and Low Luv by Erin Wasson.

Celebrities graced the red carpet to celebrate the launch of his online store, and the adored lines they’ve coveted for sometime. A few in attendance were Nikki Reed looking gorgeous in a tribal scarf, Jenny McCarthy, Serinda Swan (TRON) in a beautiful bright orange number, the adorable Louise Roe, and many more. The showroom was bustling as I made my way through the blue dimmed lit space under elaborate white chandeliers. It wasn’t hard to find the decadent style at this event, and many dressed to their own beat, as I like best. Many rocked head pieces (below is one of Kim Kardashian’s – WANT), seems to be the latest trend of the season, and I only wished I could be as funky as the girl with the adorable yellow/orange scarf.   Nikki Reed’s donned a tribal scarf, and many of you know how I feel about tribal.

Find out more about Glamhouse HERE, and get shopping their divine collections! I have a long want list started. ENJOY!

{Designer Spotlight | Bliss Lau Jewerly}

Invariably seeking to blur the lines between the garment and accessory, Bliss Lau represents the juxtaposition of culture, design and aesthetic; half Chinese and half American, Bliss was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and educated in New York City. Bliss launched her handbag collection immediately after completing a degree in apparel design from Parsons School of Design and finally four years later transitioned the collection into the markedly distinct body-jewelry of today.

Her artist approach is appealing to women who want a piece of jewelery to express their creative side. These pieces are pretty much amazing for any editorial working with the likes of Katy Perry and Alicia Keys. Used often to create a sexy rock and roll vibe and dominatrix feel.

Below are a few images of her collection. You’ll find information about stockist HERE.

{Going Zany Over ManiaMania}

I may be late in the game on this one, but I now know why this brand immediately caught the attention from media. These pieces are hot and their styling is perfection. I adore the moody, over the top designs that capture attention.  A mix of chunky mixed metals, oversized stones and a vintage feel, these go well as a statement piece or stacked on one another. Gorgeous, hot and superb line! I’m crushing..

{Is it Summer Yet? | Swimsuits We Can’t Wait to Wear!}

MARA HOFFMAN IBIS CORAL ONE PIECE – $200.00

SHAKUHACHI BUSTIER BIKINI -$200.00

MARA HOFFMAN KING TUT LADDER BIKINI – $200.00

MARA HOFFMAN IBIS CORAL COCOON – $340.00

It’s probably safe to say, I’m in love with Mara Hoffman. These ultra cool 70s inspired suits have never made me wish it was summer, as much as I do now. The funny thing is I’ve never been one to spend on swimsuits either, as I haven’t see many swimsuit designs that impressed me.  However, these patterns, high waisted designs and super sexy cuts, have me forking over the doe without a blink!

{RAEN Optics | Shades All Year Round}

Saturday morning at Coffee Bean with my babe, my dog and my RAEN shades. RAEN Optics is an independent, classics driven brand, aimed at bringing quality and authenticity to the boutique eyewear market. Based out of Encinitas, these guys know quality, design and fashion.

I’ve been wearing their cat frames since 2011. The Breslin breathes new life into a feminine classic. Everyday shades that offer a touch of fashion, quality and and UV protected lenses. This tart little frame channels apparitions of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe with a cat eye angled brow. Flared arms and crescent metal temple detailing grant every girl an effervescent balance of sophistication and sass.

Buy there HERE for an amazing price of  $110.00 or check out all the other amazing styles they have to offer. Cheers, to R A E N!  xx

{What to Wear | New Years Eve}

New Years Eve is one of those nights – you want to dress up to make it special, but you don’t want to go over the top.  Now, what’s over the top? These days, less is more.  The key is to sparkle just a tab, with a touch of cool, without turning into a Christmas ornament.

I recently returned something at Bloomingdale’s, yes returned, but ended up drooling over the All Saints shop they have inside the women’s section. The line is oh-so-cool, different, but offers a ton of sexy sequin pieces that are toned down or cut in a way that make it much more than just another sequined dress. I highly recommend you check them out. If you are not a dress type of girl, a sequined stiletto or gold embellished clutch adds enough jazz to an ordinary outfit for a night out on the town.

My favorite look of the night is the sequined blazer with jean shorts, always a classic look, but the sequins add a new modern twist, perfect for New Years.

Everyone goes to the staple, the black dress or simple dress with shimmer. The better way to go this season is a little less traditional and maybe a little bit less dressy, but with a touch of your own personality to the outfit.
