Invariably seeking to blur the lines between the garment and accessory, Bliss Lau represents the juxtaposition of culture, design and aesthetic; half Chinese and half American, Bliss was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and educated in New York City. Bliss launched her handbag collection immediately after completing a degree in apparel design from Parsons School of Design and finally four years later transitioned the collection into the markedly distinct body-jewelry of today.
Her artist approach is appealing to women who want a piece of jewelery to express their creative side. These pieces are pretty much amazing for any editorial working with the likes of Katy Perry and Alicia Keys. Used often to create a sexy rock and roll vibe and dominatrix feel.
Below are a few images of her collection. You’ll find information about stockist HERE.

MARA HOFFMAN IBIS CORAL ONE PIECE – $200.00

SHAKUHACHI BUSTIER BIKINI -$200.00

MARA HOFFMAN KING TUT LADDER BIKINI – $200.00

MARA HOFFMAN IBIS CORAL COCOON – $340.00

It’s probably safe to say, I’m in love with Mara Hoffman. These ultra cool 70s inspired suits have never made me wish it was summer, as much as I do now. The funny thing is I’ve never been one to spend on swimsuits either, as I haven’t see many swimsuit designs that impressed me. However, these patterns, high waisted designs and super sexy cuts, have me forking over the doe without a blink!

A few things are, Pretty Genius. One thing for example, my dog Chloe, or as some refer to her, “Scrappy” – she’s pretty genius. Another thing, the oversized tribal influenced maxi skirt I am wearing, pretty genius. And lastly, the new company formed from out of Style Section LA’s Erin Weinger and Renee Shaab - Pretty Genius- a traveling vintage pop-up shop that will blow your mind in style and price.
The best thing about Pretty Genius, is the product and concept withholds the name. Weinger and Shaab geniously source vintage pieces from places you and I wouldn’t even know about, or even have time to go to, then bring them to us vintage loving fashionistas at an insane price! You may have heard of their exclusive private sales in their homes, or read about them in the LA Times. Now, they are official. I scored this skirt from one of their private vintage pop-up shops along with 4 other pieces amounting to a total of $75. You’ll be hearing and seeing much more of these ladies, first starting this weekend at A Current Affair.

For Diego Garcia, 2011 might just be ‘the’ year. His new album Laura has been voted one of NPR’s top 25 albums of the year and it’s been a long time coming, 5 years in the making. Formerly the front man of Elefant, Billboard magazine says “Garcia emerges with a stellar solo debut!”

Anxiously awaiting my phone call with Diego, wondering what he was going to be like, my expectations were low, especially as a New Yorker at the top of his game. I picked up the phone to hear a soothing friendly voice on the other end – laid back like a surfer, eloquent like a writer and gentle like the father he is.
Diego originally made his mark on the indie music scene as front man for the popular indie act Elefant prior to his successful solo career. His new album, Laura, is named after his French-Brazilian wife, previously a successful fashion designer, and recently made a splash in the interior design world after the birth of their child. They’ve been featured in Casa Sugar and The Glow – as if their story wasn’t already cute enough!
The album explores his Latin heritage but also explores dealing with love, heartbreak and coming of age. He explains, “I began to write this album shortly after they broke up, to deal with the pain, to ask questions and get a few things off his chest. The album deals with the melody of love but also becoming a man in New York City and growing up.”
His culture and upbringing also allowed a self-assure man to explore the depths of love and explore his eternal side. “It’s natural to sing about in love in Argentina, the same way a kid on long beach signs about surfing. In my culture it’s okay for a man to sing about that subject of love. The album is not about a first kiss, it’s about a lot heavier – macho, grown-up, mature love.”
However he did make a point to say, the 80s killed the love category, further explaining the balance of the arrangement felt raw, dirty and the early 70s offered an edgy dark side to music. Thankfully, for you and for I, he has brought back melodic music about love and with no better way than his album Laura.
The album debuts a man of confidence, security in himself, and sincerity in his words. When speaking to him, I gathered a sense he knew exactly who he was – at peace with where he was at in his life. He has lived a full life, rich with culture, adventures, highs and lows. Diego admitted to not achieving his first goal in life, which was to become a professional soccer player. Music was a back-up plan, which at first he admits was something he enjoyed for the fame, the women, and the spotlight. Now, it’s a passion and as a grown up responsible man, “a way to put food on the table,” Diego tells me.
His mother was a musician, though she didn’t play enough. He remembers her having a old nylon Spanish guitar that she played as a teenager. Diego looked at it every day when he would go to get his shoes in the closet, before going outside. At times his mother would strum it after dinner.
While some of Diego’s music explores heavy issue, he himself was upbeat and happy. He told me some great stories, one having the opportunity to cook for Karl Lagerfeld, and it’s apparent he doesn’t take himself too seriously. We closed with a question of dreams. I asked him if he had the opportunity o have dinner with 5 people, living or dead, he said he would have dinner with – Diego Maradona – the greatest soccer player to this date, Karl Lagerfeld, Elvis, Oscar Wilde, Steve Jobs. I wouldn’t mind having a seat at that table either!

And his new album Laura is one don’t want to miss. You’ll have that on repeat..
I pretty much lust over anything tribal, boho or 70s glam. Truly inspired by the patterns, muted tons, and the mellow vibe that carries when wearing tribal – almost a hippie chicness but with a powerful strength of peace. While I might be getting carried away with passion from the excitement of tribal, I’m really wanting to share with you these amazing finds from Anthropologie Home. I am LOVE home design almost as much as fashion, however the pieces tend to be a taaaaad more expensive than what we can find at Forever 21. So I stay in the $200 range for new pieces, flea markets and even many times find great things at Marshals.
Anthropologie got me though. It usually does and I know that I’ll be thinking of these beautiful pieces for months to come.
Since I can’t afford this at the moment at $2,698…

I’m really considering buying of these to add some color and design to my place for around $200 each..

I never realized lingerie actually had different seasons and collections. I guess I never really paid attention and I don’t think the men have either. But I realized there are certain lingerie pieces that should be tucked away for next Fall, along with those coats and boots.
UNDREST, for example, does Fall lingerie perfectly offering Victorian style pieces with lace, and muted color-ways, that parrellel the changing color of the leaves and the moody Fall skies.
After viewing the collection, I can totally images wearing it after the holiday festivities with a hot toddys at home with your honey. See below a few images from U<strong>NDREST’s Lingerie Fall/Winter 2012 Lookbook. Such a sweet and sexy line!
