Home re-design requires a lot of planning, work and time but the end result can be magical, and worth it! I’ve been thinking about how I want to re-design my living room and home and I wanted to share some of my inspiration and planning with you.

STEP ONE: The first step when trying to achieve a look (whether it be in fashion or home fashion) is to find your inspiration. You’ll need a very clear image of what you want to achieve the desired look.
Here’s a few things I do know about the look I desire: I like a clean, modern room but it’s very important to me that the room is inviting and not stuffy. I love white, golds and neutrals with pops of color and usually stay away from overly complicated rooms with tons of clutter. The last thing, and most importantly, I like a variety of different looks and if I just buy things randomly (like in the past, whoopsies) the room may never have that cohesive feel that I’m craving. If you hire a interior designers, they will always say this: you have to plan ahead time to make it all come together.
STEP TWO: The second part of planning a room is deciding what your canvas will be. After pulling together imagery and finding what I like, I’ve noticed I tend to gravitate towards a neutral or grey walls. I visited Clark+Kensington which is ACE Hardware’s exclusive line of paint and browsed their beautiful color palate. Noticing all the images that I’m gravitating towards, I think a very soft grey would help me achieve the look I want.
One thing that is amazing about their paints is that they have a primer and paint in one, which will cut half the time. It’s low voc, which means it’s a environmentally friendly paint and it’s supposed to dry in half the time, which means you’ll be able to enjoy your room that much faster.
STEP THREE: After you chose your desired look and painted your room, the next steps is decorating and buying the pieces. It’s clear from the images above, I pretty much need a Morrocan rug in my living room. I think they add so much to the first two images. The second thing I know I love is a white couch and white widow panels. I think white is so romantic and you can switch up your decorating easily every year if you’d like to with a white base and grey walls. Below are a few items on my list for my redesign.

There’s nothing like a day trip to make you feel renewed. I’m all about traveling, but sometimes a week long or even a weekend just isn’t feasible. So lately, I’ve been all about day trips – last time to Ojai and just yesterday, to Laguna Beach.
We started the day with a hike because I always feel best if I start my day with exercise. Plus, hiking to me is an adventure. There are so many beautiful places to see, it’s endless. We started at the Nix Nature Center Parking. There’s a beautiful center with bathrooms and a helpful ranger to guide you on the best hike. Depending on your time and interest in difficulty, he can direct you to the best area. We did about a two mile loop by a beautiful lake and it was gorgeous, but next times I’m really interested in hiking the Top of The World. It’s going to be a steep one but I hear the views are amazing.
If you know me then you know I love coffee. Any road trip is not only filled with healthy snacks but definitely, coffee! It’s been hot, so these Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee drinks have been a good alternative when you’re busy on the go and need something refreshing.
It was just a day trip but our plans were slightly more aggressive. From hiking, to beach to pool time, then dinner, we needed to be prepared! Some things that I always carry with me for day trips are: good reads (something fashion related, of course), sunnies (my choice is always Karen Walker. I literally can’t find any other brand I like), Eos Lip Balm (I’m so hooked. Is it the shape, I don’t know, but these lip balms are amazing), L*Space Swimwear, Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee and accessories (because I always feel so bare without them).
WHAT TO DO IN LAGUNA: the beaches are so tropical they will make you feel like you’re in Hawaii. I was so amazed by them all and I’m even from San Diego. After hiking if you’re planning a beach day, I suggest finding parking in a residential neighborhood (turn up Jasmine street from the 101) and you won’t have to worry about parking for the entire day. There are so many beautiful places to explore but we ventured Mertle Beach and it was gorgeous. Another must see beach is Crystal Cove.
One must see while you’re there is the Montage Hotel, it’s absolutely stunning! The beaches are absolutely beautiful but the spa and luxury hotel facilities will absolutely make you feel completely renewed.
For dinning, I have tons of recommendations for you but we didn’t get to them all. We had happy hour at The Montage but after we caught the sunset at K’yas. The view is gorgeous right the ocean so you can see the entire coastline. They have great food, too. We had an amazing salmon salad and sweet potato fries because I’m so hooked on those. I was also recommended Las Brisas for mexican, The Deck for happy hour and Carmelitas for more Mexican.
Regardless where you go, I hope this post inspires you to get out and travel, if only even for the day. If you need an extra kick on the go, try Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee. Wishing you all a safe weekend! XO

Pink flamingos in the sky and gold painted pineapples, of course makes me think of no one other than…
Last week, I was invited to preview and celebrate the launch of Cote’s five-free nail polish line and flagship nail care destination in Brentwood.
Easy like Sunday morning…The Farmers Market in The Grove is one of my favorite places in LA.
This weekend edit if about home fashion. If you haven’t heard, One Kings Lane launched a marketplace for décor lovers, Hunters Alley, a site that lets you buy and sell vintage, contemporary pre-owned, and handcrafted furnishings and decor. It’s pretty amazing (of course it would be if it’s backed by One Kings Lane), so I spent my morning (coffee in hand) browsing these beautiful sites for some home finds. I’m loving pops of color right now (never was a pink girl but it’s definitely growing on me) and I’m pretty sure I need the “Solid Kiss Framed Art” in my home. It’s edgy and cool, I guess a little of what I aim for in my everyday life. X
There’s one thing I’ve come to learn after 3 years of blogging: lighting is everything. We fashion bloggers chase the light because we know how much it affects our photos, how things appear and it absolutely affects our mood. We like detail and great ambiance and there’s nothing more that can throw off our creative vibe more than poor lighting. That’s why I was happy to partner with GE to test some lighting out in my own home. To start watch this video sharing their thoughts about light and how it affects their craft.
I decided that the area I needed the most light improvement was in my room. Daylight my room and desk is full of light but when I sit down to write, I need crisp lighting that keeps me focused and awake (as it’s usually after work when I finally get to blog). Keep in mind the lighting is not accurate because it’s now dark, but take note of the color of the light and how it appears.
This is before using GE Reveal Bulbs:
And this is after:
You can see how the light was transformed from yellow, dingy light to much brighter and crisper light, making the overall mood and tone in my room much brighter and appealing. GE reveal® LED bulbs available almost exclusively at Target. To purchase: GE Reveal Bulbs.
*This post was not sponsored and all opinions are my own. I have partnered with Target and GE to receive free bulbs and share with you my honest opinion.
I hope you’re all having an amazing President’s Day weekend. I’ve partnered with Target + GE to work with them on a makeover for my home (which I’ll be sharing very soon!) and they’re also offering one SWP reader a chance to redo their home with a few goodies.
GE reveal® bulbs create a beautiful light in any room that will help color pop. Lighting is very important for any craft relating to photography or art and these bulbs filter out the dull yellows of standard incandescent light bulbs. I was really intrigued to try them myself after watching the below video, where four creative tastemakers discuss importance of good lighting.
If you’d like to join in on the fun and have your chance at winning GE Reveal bulbs + a $25 dollar gift card to Target, enter below. Contest starts today and lasts for one week. Good luck! XX
This weekend, men crowd in small confined areas, make loud noises and eat obscene amounts of food until their top buttons are about to bursts. Most women, sit along side them and distract themselves chatting with the other girls in the room, watch the amazing halftime show and scroll through Instagram. (I know that there are many women who are into football just as much as their men, I just happen to not be one of them. Basketball and soccer are my sports.)
So, for most of us women, it’s about the food, making things pretty and enjoying delicious cocktails that can be served on this all American holiday. I’m including below some delicious suggestions found around the web.

A friend of mine and fellow Los Angeles based blogger, Kelly GoLightly, is known for throwing fabulous events in LA and Palm Springs. Her crazy amazing decor and entertaining skills, coupled with a flare for fashion, offer her readers (and her friends!) amazing DIYs and how-tos when it comes to interiors and entertaining. So, it’s only customary, when someone throws such a fab soiree, to come dressed to impress, right?!
WHAT TO WEAR: SOUTHERN BBQ
There are a few ways to approach an outfit when dressing for a Southern affair. In the south, they keep it classy and conservative. Skirts should be knee length or longer, big bows are encouraged in the hair or on clothing. Wide brim hats are welcome and big sunnies are a must! For colors, think brights, polka dots, black and white or soft hues. Florals add a fun element, too. For men, it’s pretty simple. A bow tie, suspenders, a hat, or pocket scarves are all he needs to get the job done. (Just be sure your man knows how to tie a bow-tie BEFORE driving to the event. #truestory
We were so GLAD we went! The event was sponsored by GLAD who not only supplied the containers to take home the amazing food from Heirloom LA, they also supplied the GLAD cheerleading team who surprised all of us while we were enjoying the BBQ. Such a cute idea, don’t you think?
Loved Miss Kris Turner’s bow
Laurie’s turban and outfit was perfection.
