I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent the time catching up on the couch then heading to Santa Monica with my boyfriend to enjoy the evening and watch the fireworks. This long weekend is much needed, I’m sure you feel the same. Lately, I’ve been trying to add some ladylike and conservative pieces in my wardrobe, but ones that are still stylish and chic. This TopShop dress is perfect for that. It was on sale for $45 (I did a post a while back telling everyone about the sale!). Since the color seems to wash me out, I broke up the neutrals with the denim jacket (one of the best purchases ever!). I purchased it when R29 threw a “Save Fashion” sale years ago during the fall of the market for $25. My booties have also done me well. If you’re lighter skinned like me, I think a nude booties is a must-have. They go with everything and elongate your legs. Trust me in this, you’ll be wearing them so much.
The jewels. A friend of mine recently introduced me to Chloe and Isabel. The line has some amazing layering pieces like dainty necklaces and thin and think bracelets. They’re affordable, too. If you’re interested, they also offer you a chance to become a merchandiser and earn some goodies.
Shopbop marked down hundreds of new products this week including these amazing Maison Martin Margiela Paper Snake booties. We’re talking a 70% discount from $870 to $261. SCORE, right?! Oh, they are so beautiful.
Baublebar is offering 25% off all sale items when you enter code POPSICLE at checkout! This gorgeous peach necklace is perfect for summer.
Neiman Marcus is also offering an extra 25% off all sale items.
The Outnet launched their clearance sale this week with up to 85% off original prices!
Club Monaco is offering an additional 30% off sale pieces with code SUMMER30! Plus free shipping.
Aldo: Up to 70% off select merchandise and free shipping on all online orders. Online exclusive deals include $15 off orders of $75 using code “SPEND75,” $20 off orders of $100 using code “SPEND100” and $25 off orders of $120 using code “SPEND120.”
ASOS: Up to 50% off select merchandise.
Barney’s Warehouse: 30% off select merchandise until Monday. LOVE this Alexander Wang Emile Tote.
Nasty Gal: 20% off site wide.
Raven + Lily’s beautiful eco jewelry and products are all 40% off. It’s their biggest sale ever! The best part is you’ll be helping women in Ethiopia, Cambodia and India through your purchase.
With this heat wave, dresses are sometimes the only way to go, but without the right style and design, a simple dress can be a little boring. Dresses from Forever21 and H&M can look wrinkly or the fit may not be right, as the quality and design isn’t the same as a designer dress. Investing in a good dress or two is definitely worth the splurge; you’ll feel better in it and you’ll have it for seasons to come. These 8 picks are from two of my favorite stores OTTE NYC and Net-A-Porter. Most are marked down as surprisingly, stores are already thinking about fall merchandise! From color blocking, to brights like Emerald green, and of course my favorite, all white, these dresses will be investments for years to come.
Jumpers, overalls, rompers – they’re everywhere! I got a hold of a few from G Star and I have to say, they’re simply amazing. While I sometime like to glam it up and get girly, I really feel myself with more laid back style. These were shot in DTLA. Hope you’re all having a great night! XKC

Oh, what an amazing 3-day weekend! Two days go by so fast, but three days is JUUUST right. I got so much done, it was lovely. I had a yard sale ($40 dollars in one hour – wahoo!), organized my car, house etc. (that felt so good!) then relaxed with some friends at The Grove. My boyfriend and I went to his friend’s house in the Marina for Memorial Day. It was a little clowdy when we got to the beach but we took a couple shots, nonetheless!
There is nothing that says spring more than a FLORAL BLAZER!
You’ve seen them on celebrities like Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, and Lauren Conrad, from red carpet functions to daily street style outfits. Get flower-bombed and styled for the season with one of these amazing blazers.
What to keep in mind
Blazers are all about fit. If the blazer is not fitting you right, it doesn’t matter how much you paid or the type of pattern, it’s going to look off. Try to find a blazer that fits right in your arms, isn’t too tight in the shoulder but it should be fitting. Sometimes it’s best to go a size up and take it to a seamstress if it doesn’t fit you perfectly.
How to style..
Dress it up or down – both styles work great. It’s often seen dressed down with a pair of skinny jeans and heels, but can be thrown over a maxi (shown above) or paired with a high waisted skater skirt to make it extra girly.
SHOP THE LOOK
Ahh, the kickoff of summer. Everyone is in a great mood today knowing they have 3 days off ahead of them! Get out and try something new this holiday weekend.
1. Wear Your Heart on Your Nails
Never say never, and that even means to nail art. Have a little fun this weekend and show your pride for the Red, White and Blue. I know it’s a little intimidating, but with a little patience, a good tutorial and the right tools, everyone can achieve a great nail art look. This is one of my favorites as it’s simple, clean and fun. The key to Nail Art is know your limits – if you’re not that experienced, don’t pretend to be, because nothing is worse than a bad DIY Nail Art. Keep it simple like the one pictured to the left.
What you’ll need: A red polish like Essie’s Really Red Polish, a bold blue, silver glitter nail and a bold white. Make sure you have tape to cut strips for where you’d like to add the blue. Layer them on the nail after it’s dried completely, and paint with the blue polish – tape is the secret to keeping this look clean and perfected. Add a heart for the finishing touch! 2. Sip Wine at Barnsdall Park (LA Residents)
If you’re in Los Angeles this weekend, this look pretty #maj. Wine, relaxation and music on top of a hill with the sun setting and great bites from Heirloom LA – what could be a better way to end your week? You’re welcome.
3. Make Something!
We had SO much fun at Create & Cultivate this past weekend which COMPLETELY left me inspired to get creative more often. We made super cute DIY vases from Izze bottles – who would have thunk?!
What you’ll need: Izze bottles or anything other glass bottle that you’d like to paint – get creative, you can use anything! Water based paint from Home Depot – ($3-$6 dollars depending on how many colors you want). And a paint brush or two. Newspaper or magazines so you don’t color the floors and some beautiful flowers to decorate with once you’re finished. Grab some wine with friends, put on some music and get creative!
4. SHOP Floral
Zara is killing it lately with their Spring 2013 collection. It’s definitely worth a pop in.
5. Plant a Seed and Let It Grow
Isn’t it a hassle to buy herbs EVERY time you want to cook something nice? I started the beginning of an indoor herb garden with my very own basil plant (can you sense the pride!). It’s so fun to water it every couple days and see it come to life (I can only imagine what I’ll be like with a baby if I’m this proud of my basil plant! Ha.). If you have a home and a yard, get out there and spend some time with the soil. If you’re in an apartment like me, you can still have fun with a small herb garden for your kitchen. Everything you need is at Home Depot. Get your hands dirty!
