{ Fashion Photography Thursdays || Mara Zampariolo gets inspired by nature }

These pictures inspired me mainly because of the remote, desolete location – sometimes you just want to go to a place where there is only nature and be alone or with someone you love, right? Reading further about photographer Mara Zampariolo, she started at the age of 7 usually means at this point it’s second nature. And, when asked what inspires her, her surroundings play a huge role and it’s apparent in this collection.

“There’s a lot of things that inspire her work, but maybe the most important of all; Location: “- It usually is a location – I am not much of a studio photographer – as I get inspired by the energy of a place, its furniture, its story. I aso get a lot of ideas from music (all of my fashion spreads are named after a song, so I start choosing a song then I try to translate it into pictures) and greek mythology and maths.” – Ben Travato Blog

{Fashion Photography Thursdays || Technicolor }

Ben Travato’s Blog never lets me down – always featuring some amazing work.

Photographer Manuel Norgueira, at only 32, has made a name for himself working with clients as large as Levis and working with publications such as Brazaillian Elle.

This story Technicolor is sublime! The colors are vibrant, the styling is a bit 70s retro and the risks are high, but nonetheless turn out amazing.

” -This story was created mainly due to esthetic demands that I was feeling. The idea was to create many visual elements without the need for digital post-production. Of course the photos were a bit manipulated, but the raw image was made using optical filters, color filters, shadows, reflections and highlights. I’d like to see more experiments in contemporary publications, I think this just adds knowledge and challenges to all involved. Well, this will create a story to illustrate this fashion – a visual essay is more than a strictly linear narrative.

{Fashion Photography Thursdays – Contagious Joie De Vivre}

This spread combines three things I love and dream about often: PARIS and flirtatious femme beauty, fashion’s best couture designers who celebrate the beauty of the little black dress and the well known photographer, Patrick Demarchelier.  What a fabulous pair.

Chloe is by far one of my favorite designers. I always feel a 70s retro feminity transpired through their pieces.

Beginning in 1989, he was the official photographer of Princess Diana of Wales, becoming the first non-Briton to become an official photographer for the Royal Family. Fashion Photography || Arabian Dreams

Feathers, stones, metals, and layers – the complex, warm images struck me with the bold contrast and Arabian elements.

Strong poses with mixes of elegance and a flow of complexities that don’t overwhelm her. The styling and construction are genuinely beautiful.

Fashion Photography Thursdays || Nacho Ricci Knows His Light

Argentine fashion photographer Nacho Ricci has a portfolio full of inspirational work. Everything from lighting to the models he use, is top class.

I was inspired by these black and white grouped images, with all of them leaving some part for distortion.

Fashion Photo Thursdays || Photos From Paris With Melanie Rodriguez

I am not surprised at the least to learn that this moving photographer is from Paris. There is sense of dramatism mixed with beauty and also a delicacy that is apparent throughout her photos. You can also tell that she loves what she does.  What do you think? Do you enjoy her work?

Paris based photographer Melanie Rodriguez has been shooting ever since she discovered the dark room, back in high school. With an unique style, her portfolio of work includes everything from artistic pictures of children to elegant fashion shoots. Her work has been featured in publications such as Codigo 0640, Psychologie Magazine and Papier Maché, and she says this about her inspirations:”- Lots of things, photographers like Paolo roversi, Sally Mann, Francesca Woodman, Guy Bourdin and so much more… And of course life, and my daughter, i love to take picture with her, she’s very inspiring.

Style Wax Poetic Monthly | August 2010

The month of August is at an end and it’s the first day of September, wow. Life flies by, and so do the posts on blogs. The disadvantage of reading from a blog, unlike reading from a magazine, is that great information can be here and gone in a few days.  I’m starting a ‘Monthly Round Up’ post which breaks down everything I covered in August.

Music Mondays featured Ra Ra Riot, Animal Collective, School of Seven Bells, and Blonde Redhead. As usual, most Music Mondays feature a free MP3 download.

Summer Style With Friends featured Jen Elias, Fashion Editor of SJ Helium, Flor De Maria, PR specialist and blogger at Flor De Maria Fashion and Payton McClure, Fashion Designer living in New York City.

Photo Thursdays | Where The Wild Dream Grows by Waldemar Hansson

As much as I love fashion, I almost love photography just as much – fashion photography that is. There are so many amazing fashion photographers that don’t get recognized as they should. When a beautiful spread is done in a magazine, their name appears in size 8 font never to be seen or recognized again.  Ben Travato’s blog began over a year ago and has been featuring some amazing, old and new, fashion photographers. I find inspiration every time I visit his blog and even more so after reading the photographers stories.  This was shot for F. Hush magazine which launches this year. Being a Swedish photographer, his work is focused mainly in Swedish magazines but from his past collections he seems to use an overlay of light on the photo to give it a blurred yet angelic look.  See more of his work  HERE.

If you are a Fashion photographer and would like to have your work featured on Style Wax Poetic, please email me @ krisjoyconahan@gmail.com.  I am a LA based stylist and would also be happy to assist you with your shoot.
