{Stylehaus’ Step Out for LA Fashion Week at The Mondrian}

Last week, stylehaüs decided to chime on the LA Fashion Week events, and we’re so glad they did. While we love Fashion Week here at Style Wax Poetic, we also are pretty selective about what we cover, but we have to admit LA is growing tremdendously in the quality of events they are producing. One for examples, was Styleahaus’ Coachella runway show at the Mondrian.

Included in the runway show were looks from Vena Cava, Sass + Bide, StyleStalker, and Naven, all lines they currently carry at their members only upscale clothing and styling boutique in Los Angeles. As well, they’re recent addition Odylyne, captured the show offering pieces that every girl must have to take Coachella inspiration to their everyday closets.

Look 1- Vena Cava top, vintage high waisted shorts, Theodora & Callum skirt
Look 2- Otis & Mclain printed top and shorts
Look 3- Parade velvet halter vest and skirt (new line that launches in the fall, we were able to get some pieces a bit early)
Look 4- white Odylyne dress
Look 5- Genetic Denim shorts and Odylyne blouse

{Pink + Grey | Sunday at Sundown}

One of my favorite things about being a fashion blogger, is having the opportunity to use photography as a medium creativity.  Los Angeles has everything you could want for a cool backdrop from hotels, to graffiti walls, to the mountains, or sea.  It’s amazing how many fun places there are to shoot in Los Angeles.

While I was on my way to an event to view Wren’s SS12 collection, in collaboration by a short film with Gia Coppola (post to come soon on Style Section LA), I stumbled upon this amazing pink wall.  I’d tell you where it is, but I’d have to steal your camera.

If nothing else, I hope this post inspires you get creative.  I love how photography can instantly turn into art, while style being a medium to create.

xxx, love always, Style Wax Poetic

{Unique LA}

Last weekend I walked the Unique LA show, a show curated to bring shoppers and alternative to the mall founded by Sonja Rasula. A few highlights included Homako, a sweet jewelry line, Sire’s Crown, a optical company with really cool frames and a jewelry line made out of Drum Cymbols – pretty sweet! Unique LA supports local designers and connects shoppers to fantastic lines they may not otherwise know about, such as Futher, a soap, lotion and candles company with killer packaging. From a marketing design mind, I do appreciate a great packaging design, regardless of the product! I will buy, for the design of the bottle and hopefully the product is good too!

Further moved from New York. Their products take vegetable oil from local restaurants like Tiato, Mozza and Tavern, turn it into biodiesel fuel for our cars, then take the byproduct, purify it, and reuse to make our soap, lotion and candles. How cool! Check out more at furtherproducts.com.

{A Few Things Pretty Genius}

A few things are, Pretty Genius. One thing for example, my dog Chloe, or as some refer to her, “Scrappy” – she’s pretty genius. Another thing, the oversized tribal influenced maxi skirt I am wearing, pretty genius. And lastly, the new company formed from out of Style Section LA’s Erin Weinger and Renee Shaab - Pretty Genius-  a traveling vintage pop-up shop that will blow your mind in style and price.

The best thing about Pretty Genius, is the product and concept withholds the name. Weinger and Shaab geniously source vintage pieces from places you and I wouldn’t even know about, or even have time to go to, then bring them to us vintage loving fashionistas at an insane price! You may have heard of their exclusive private sales in their homes, or read about them in the LA Times. Now, they are official.  I scored this skirt from one of their private vintage pop-up shops along with 4 other pieces amounting to a total of $75.  You’ll be hearing and seeing much more of these ladies, first starting this weekend at A Current Affair.

{ LA Street Style |Vintage Gem}

I went to the opening of Mishca Barton’s Art Exhibit at Echo Park Independent Co-op a few weeks back and out of everyone there, this belle stood out.

She works in fashion, of course, bought both her top and bottoms at a thrift store, we love, and had perfectly undone hippie chic hair.  The night had an overall “goth” feel to it, so seeing her made our night.

{New Wool Hat, Floral Kimono Top and A Maxi Skirt}

DSC_2513

I haven’t been doing outfit posts for a while….but I have some amazing new pieces that need to be pictured soon.

The post was inspired from a hat, which many of my posts are. I found my new wool hat at a garage sale on my street for $7 dollars. It’s not Fall yet, but I know I’ll be getting some use out of this hat soon. If you are looking for great accessory pieces for cheap, scope out garage sales in Los Angeles on the weekends. LA peeps seem to be collectors of great fashion and costume pieces, then they have too much and end up getting rid of a lot of it…I usually never leave a Saturday Garage sale day empty handed.

My top is one of my newest FAVS – how I love a silky floral patters, especially ones that have a little flow to them. I picked it up when I was asked to work at  a fashion event at a darling store in Venice you may know, Ecookie. They have some really great pieces and most pieces are under $100. They carry a good size amount of a LA based line that I had never heard of, EVERLY. Their pieces were really on trend and I ended up walking out the door with the floral kimono top (pictured), a long floral maxi skirt, and a maxi dress. All easy to wear, perfect Summer pieces. Working the event was well worth it!

{Everyone Needs A Summer Hat}

Hats might just be one of my favorite accessories. They have the ability to completely change a look and the also protect your skin from harmful sun damage.

With the funky fashion styles this season, there are so many creative options outside of your average fedora. Panama Hats, channelling your safari adventure (through LA traffic), have become a staple for many girls closets. Floppy Hats are always a glamours option.  And it doesn’t stop there, A.P.C. makes a fisherman hat this season & Rag & Bone offers that ever so cool wool floppy fedora(#6).

If you live in L.A., you know Hi Styley. They have a good size of the market when it come to L.A. street style.   I met Evalotta, founder of HiStyley.com, at The Doves Studio X Style Wax Poetic event a couple weeks back and she was lovely! She mentioned Hi Styley has some exciting things coming up as she’ll be featuring creative stylish women, not just on the streets anymore, but inside their homes — we love that!

Many thanks for the Style Wax Poetic love! xx

{Prairie Girl}

two

Such a gorgeous evening in the hood. You should of seen the views, and so peaceful. After viewing Vanessa Bruno’s Pre-Collection styling last year, who embodied a complete peasant feel, I was inspired to get in on the fun. Never having worn my hair like this, go easy please, I attempted to create the prairie look with the cross braids headband. The outfit came after the braids, indeed.

I’ve worn my maxi skirt from  a  lot over the past few months and spent only $20. I usually dress up maxi with my black leather jacket and black booties, but I also try to play off the neutral tones like today. I’m transpiring a BIG LOVE feel, but of course in a cute fashion sort of way.

Also, of course have to pay tribute to the wedges. I climbed that crazy hill you see above, and those babies didn’t let me fall. Charles David always makes the most comfortable shoes.

Hope you all enjoy the first day of Summer. It’s 8:19pm and still light out, love it! xx
