Indie queen Zooey Deschanel is latest Pantene ambassador

New Girl star and indie screen queen Zooey Deschanel has just been unveiled as
the new face of Pantene‘s Beautiful Lengths campaign. Following in the footsteps of
previous ambassadors and fellow actresses Naomi Watts and Eva Mendes, the 32-
year-old has big boots to fill.

Zooey will be promoting the Beautiful Lengths Collection, which was created to
complement a charitable effort of the same name. Beautiful Lengths, founded
in 2006, aims to encourage long-haired folk to donate their lopped-off locks to
the American Cancer Society Wig Banks. Human hair wigs tend to be more natural-
looking than their synthetic counterparts, but the donated hair has to be in tip-top
condition before it can be turned into wigs. Zooey, well known for her trademark
fringe and glossy brown tresses, appears to be the perfect advocate for taking hair
care seriously.

The bright-eyed star is “thrilled” to be Pantene’s new spokeswoman, and she feels
passionate about both the brand and the cause. In an official statement following
the announcement, she revealed: “Anyone who knows me knows that I am really
into hair. I’m a real girly girl and love doing my hair and experimenting with different
styles.”

Zooey’s signature quirky look and charming fashion sense make her a great style
icon for the summer months. Often seen pairing cute summer dresses with kitsch
jewellery and comfy-looking flats, the self-proclaimed girly girl usually keeps her
make-up to a minimum, sticking to an ‘au naturel’ look.

The key to copying Zooey’s fun fashion sense is to invest in an essential summer
dress. Aim to find a versatile piece that can be either dressed up by slinging on a
pair of high heels and grabbing a glam clutch, or kept basic with a denim jacket and
flats. There’s a plethora of day dresses online that would sit comfortably in Zooey’s
wardrobe – so why not grab a comb and have some fun experimenting with a few
new hairstyles of your own?

{Music Mondays | Hiatus}

Image Via 'Can Your Hear This'

This soothing melody takes you on an instrumental journey. Close your eyes and enjoy. When not writing, Cyrus produces electronic music under the name Hiatus. His debut LP Ghost Notes was created largely from samples accumulated during his time working as a journalist in Iran.

I came across one of his tracks through my friend Carolyn, who has an amazing electronic page HERE, and happily discovered more and more of his work. Stunningly beautiful and speaks for itself.
Listen to more of Hiatus’ work HERE with many generous free downloads for your to enjoy.

{Taylor Tomasi Hill’s Behind the Scenes with Vogue}

This red belle seems to do it all. Taylor Tomasi Hill gives us an inside look at her home in New York City (via Vogue). Hill was the style and accessories director for US Marie Claire magazine, now Moda Operandi’s artistic director. Stylist, beautiful AND a great cook.

“I think this picture is very Arthur Elgort because it is about the marriage between real life and fantasy,” Taylor muses about the photographer who shot the treasured image hanging over her bed. “I recently had the privilege of working with him on a shoot for Moda Operandi, and I had to pinch myself because I felt like I was in a dream. This has always been one of my favorite photographs. I try to jump into pools fully clothed as often as possible, shoes and all.” Taylor Tomasi Hill

{Alexander Wang’s Sporty + Tribal Fall 2012}

Alexander Wang’s Fall 2012 debuts with tribal patterns and a sporty edge. The models slicked back messy wet hair add the element of sport, and the mesh and layer see through tops. The black cat leggings and form fitting top have a motor edge, with tribal influences and an overall sport feel. A very interesting showing, genus of course, with edge and as always, something different.

{A Few Things Pretty Genius}

A few things are, Pretty Genius. One thing for example, my dog Chloe, or as some refer to her, “Scrappy” – she’s pretty genius. Another thing, the oversized tribal influenced maxi skirt I am wearing, pretty genius. And lastly, the new company formed from out of Style Section LA’s Erin Weinger and Renee Shaab - Pretty Genius-  a traveling vintage pop-up shop that will blow your mind in style and price.

The best thing about Pretty Genius, is the product and concept withholds the name. Weinger and Shaab geniously source vintage pieces from places you and I wouldn’t even know about, or even have time to go to, then bring them to us vintage loving fashionistas at an insane price! You may have heard of their exclusive private sales in their homes, or read about them in the LA Times. Now, they are official.  I scored this skirt from one of their private vintage pop-up shops along with 4 other pieces amounting to a total of $75.  You’ll be hearing and seeing much more of these ladies, first starting this weekend at A Current Affair.
