{Trend Forecast SS13 | Black & White}

BLKWHITESWPBLACKANDWHITE_edited-1

After Fall’s more-is-more lavishness, designers seemed to take quite a different approach for Spring. It doesn’t get any more back-to-basics than black and white, which quickly emerged as one of the season’s big themes. To us it’s one of those trends that isn’t a trend, meaning Black and White is so classic, I’m pretty sure it’s here to stay for good. It was noticeable on the runway with eye catchers from Oscar De La Renta, Jill Sander, Jason Wu just to name a few. Shop the trend below to wear this trend before everyone else catches on to it. That is the fun thing about trends, right? The best part, these pieces will stay in your closet forever. XOSWP

{Printed Pants in Fall Leaves}

If you follow my Instagram, you probably have noticed I’m obsessed with these beautiful leaves lately! I love the seasons and it’s nice to know Los Angeles actually does have them, at least a little.

My outfit today was inspired from these lovely printed pants.  A bold pant is easy to outfit as the rest of the outfit can be pretty simple (blacks, whites, etc). These pants are one of my recent purchases from the Kelly Wearstler sample sale. If I could, I would shop all year long at sample sales, as I still can’t really believe how well I did.  I will be posting more on this to come, but be sure to sign up for Daily Candy for their daily newsletter if you haven’t. They list all the great sales in town!

For the top, I’ve always wanted to try out the the cropped look. A bandeau is a great purchase and you’ll find you use it all the time. Of course you need a jacket or cover-up to wear with it, so I threw on my employees only inspired zipper jacket!

I wouldn’t suggest wearing this out in the day, but for a night time out with your girls or a funky gallery opening, go for it! For a more causal look, this can be paired with a simple t-shirt and wedge booties.

XOXO, SWP

{Missioni at the Glendale Train Station}

I love the train station in Glendale, hidden down the street away from everything. The historic building is magical at sunset, and happens to be only 10 minutes from my place.  It’s definetly a great place for photos and beautiful at dusk.  By now you’ve seen my faux fur vest, that goes with just about anything. What’s on your wish list?

{Sundown in the Park}

One of my favorite parts about being a blogger is getting to play not only with fashion – colors, trends, textures and layers – but photography. If I didn’t do what I did today, I am pretty sure I’d be a photographer where you capture emotion, light and create a story with stills using subjects and scenery. I’ll be brining back Fashion Photography Thursdays twice a month, as there are so many talented photographers that need to be celebrated! Stay tuned.

For today’s outfit post, I attempted to create a casual, yet still romantic day look.  One challenge I always face is finding a day outfit that I’m not over dressed in, and still feel chic. Heels just don’t go for day time unless you’re headed to an event or work. Flats can make me feel short and unattractive, especially in shorts – you may agree?  While struggling all through summer to find the best casual day time look, as you can’t wear jeans (it’s way too hot!), I stumbled up these boots by Luxury Rebel and I knew they were perfect. They have just the slightest wedge and they’re perfect for daytime. I’ve been braving the shorts, even though I didn’t get too much tan this year, and I wanted to pair it all with a chic top to bring the look up a notch, so I paired it with my Isabel Lu top, which is girly, chic and fun. What do you think? It’s a good thing too because I ended chasing Chloe all over the park. She still needs her training.

Check back tomorrow to see how I made an easy transition from day to night.

{LOFT’s “Live in Pink” with Giuliana Rancic}

Last week’s launch of LOFT’s “Live in Pink” was a night you didn’t want to miss. Celebrating a very special partnership with style personality and breast cancer survivor Giuliana Rancic to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, fashionistas, survivors and supporters from Los Angeles gathered on The Private Rooftop Club at Petit Ermitage.

We drink, ate, chatted, photoboothed and celebrated a wonderful partnership to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Their mission is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health. Currently, over 90 cents of every dollar donated goes to research and awareness programs. Above is the gorgeous LOFT necklace designed by Giuliana Rancic.

We closed the night with a little DIY t-shirts!

It was a lovely evening all around.

{Z Spoke Resort 2012 | Polka Dots, Playful & Patriotic}

Zac Posen in one of the most lusted after designers and women flock to his 30s and 40s inspired party dresses, confidently donning them on the red carpet with glamour. His Old Hollywood designs give celebrities just what they are looking for to make the Best Dressed list.

As most of us aren’t rolling in the doe like Gwyenth Paltrow or Beyonce, we’re most likely dreaming about Zac Posen while actually purchasing Z SPOKE. The line is only a couple seasons old and is now doing knits, separates, and bags. Prices ranging in from $80-$250, most pieces in the $100 range.

Resort 2012 will have the ship crew admiring you on your next cruise and your boyfriend’s mother will be calling you darling with polka dots dress and good ol’ all Americans red, white and blue.

{Everyone Needs A Summer Hat}

Hats might just be one of my favorite accessories. They have the ability to completely change a look and the also protect your skin from harmful sun damage.

With the funky fashion styles this season, there are so many creative options outside of your average fedora. Panama Hats, channelling your safari adventure (through LA traffic), have become a staple for many girls closets. Floppy Hats are always a glamours option.  And it doesn’t stop there, A.P.C. makes a fisherman hat this season & Rag & Bone offers that ever so cool wool floppy fedora(#6).

{Prairie Girl}

two

Such a gorgeous evening in the hood. You should of seen the views, and so peaceful. After viewing Vanessa Bruno’s Pre-Collection styling last year, who embodied a complete peasant feel, I was inspired to get in on the fun. Never having worn my hair like this, go easy please, I attempted to create the prairie look with the cross braids headband. The outfit came after the braids, indeed.

I’ve worn my maxi skirt from  a  lot over the past few months and spent only $20. I usually dress up maxi with my black leather jacket and black booties, but I also try to play off the neutral tones like today. I’m transpiring a BIG LOVE feel, but of course in a cute fashion sort of way.

Also, of course have to pay tribute to the wedges. I climbed that crazy hill you see above, and those babies didn’t let me fall. Charles David always makes the most comfortable shoes.

Hope you all enjoy the first day of Summer. It’s 8:19pm and still light out, love it! xx
