{Emerald Dress | Pantone Color of The Year}

I’m sorry I haven’t been around all week, it was crazy busy with work and I am also hosting an event next Saturday in LA. It’s been taking up so much of my time, but it will well be worth it. I really can’t wait!

This post was inspired by a piece I picked up at the TopShop shopping preview at The Grove. I love the color and print of this body conscious dress. Emerald was announced as the color of the season by Pantone, so I was happy to pick up a piece to add to my wardrobe.

It is somewhat of a tight dress but it’s still conservative; long sleeve and crew neck. I definitely recommend it for all shapes and sizes – it’s a flattering piece. There are so many ways to style it but I’m always a fan of layering with vests – jean vests, fur vest, you name it. I picked up the jean vest from Loehmanns for $20 – total score since it’s Current / Elliot. My new boots were also a great purchase since it’s end of the season. I love Chloe and these are by their diffusion line, SEE by Chloe.

If you read my blog often you know I definitely do not take myself too seriously and I am really a goof! We had a little fun at the end of our shoot trying to perfect the ‘jump’ pose. HA. Sometimes you just have to be a little silly, you know?!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend. I have plans to lay on the beach with friends today and bask in the sun (yay!), then an amazing wedding event for bloggers and media at the Bel Air Bay Club, Los Angeles tomorrow. My amazing brother bought me Lakers ticket, so that will be tomorrow night – I can hardly wait! I haven’t been to a Lakers game since a little girl. Follow me on Instagram at @stylewaxpoetic or comment below so we can stay in touch. I’d love to get to know you too. XO

{LACMA + Sequence}

Street Style at LACMASequened dress at lacma

pink and white dress

arm partysequens for daytiem

I love this dress. I’ve been called “Carrie Bradshaw” before, mainly when I have curly hair, but this dress really makes me feel like Sex In The City – LA version, of course, and who wouldn’t want that?

There is something to say about sequence –  it  can really make an outfit pop. I wanted to tone this overly girly outfit  down a bit, so instead of wearing a simple heel, I wore a black bootie, which gave it a bit of edge. Another way I love to add a bit of edge to an outfit is with a leather jacket. If you don’t have one, invest! If you feel your outfit is a little to dressed up for the occasion, try switching up just these two things and it can really make an outfit cool, instead of too fancy.

We had such a good day on Sunday. We wandered around LACMA shooting, playing, relaxing in their adorable cafe – it was, a perfect Sunday.

{Printed Pants in Fall Leaves}

If you follow my Instagram, you probably have noticed I’m obsessed with these beautiful leaves lately! I love the seasons and it’s nice to know Los Angeles actually does have them, at least a little.

My outfit today was inspired from these lovely printed pants.  A bold pant is easy to outfit as the rest of the outfit can be pretty simple (blacks, whites, etc). These pants are one of my recent purchases from the Kelly Wearstler sample sale. If I could, I would shop all year long at sample sales, as I still can’t really believe how well I did.  I will be posting more on this to come, but be sure to sign up for Daily Candy for their daily newsletter if you haven’t. They list all the great sales in town!

For the top, I’ve always wanted to try out the the cropped look. A bandeau is a great purchase and you’ll find you use it all the time. Of course you need a jacket or cover-up to wear with it, so I threw on my employees only inspired zipper jacket!

I wouldn’t suggest wearing this out in the day, but for a night time out with your girls or a funky gallery opening, go for it! For a more causal look, this can be paired with a simple t-shirt and wedge booties.

XOXO, SWP

{Hot, White, Jeans!}

There are a few things that recently I knew I must have in my closet, one of them being white jeans. I did a white jeans round up a few posts ago exemplifying all amazing street style caught during NYFW, many of them wearing white jeans. I found these at Bloomingdales for a steal from their signature line Aqua. They have a couple pairs left here.  Most white jeans are on discount now although I plan to wear them through winter. It’s a good time to buy.

Paired with a super soft citron top by Vince and my BCBG Generation Booties, I kept an overall light feel to this look. I look forward to wearing them with black booties too, maybe an electric blue top and a leather jacket. White jeans are a must! Just hope I can keep them clean.

What are you lusting over this fall?

{Sundown in the Park}

One of my favorite parts about being a blogger is getting to play not only with fashion – colors, trends, textures and layers – but photography. If I didn’t do what I did today, I am pretty sure I’d be a photographer where you capture emotion, light and create a story with stills using subjects and scenery. I’ll be brining back Fashion Photography Thursdays twice a month, as there are so many talented photographers that need to be celebrated! Stay tuned.

For today’s outfit post, I attempted to create a casual, yet still romantic day look.  One challenge I always face is finding a day outfit that I’m not over dressed in, and still feel chic. Heels just don’t go for day time unless you’re headed to an event or work. Flats can make me feel short and unattractive, especially in shorts – you may agree?  While struggling all through summer to find the best casual day time look, as you can’t wear jeans (it’s way too hot!), I stumbled up these boots by Luxury Rebel and I knew they were perfect. They have just the slightest wedge and they’re perfect for daytime. I’ve been braving the shorts, even though I didn’t get too much tan this year, and I wanted to pair it all with a chic top to bring the look up a notch, so I paired it with my Isabel Lu top, which is girly, chic and fun. What do you think? It’s a good thing too because I ended chasing Chloe all over the park. She still needs her training.

Check back tomorrow to see how I made an easy transition from day to night.

{Green & Gold}

Green has turned out to be one of Spring/Summer 2012′s hottest trends. Thankfully, I’ve finally incorporated it into my wardrobe and have recently discovered one of my favorite combinations – Green & Gold.  I’ve started to pack away those dark, drab colors from winter and now I can see what colors I’m really needing.  The key to brights is keeping it classy. Be sure of your choice when going  bold.  Cotton wrinkles and fades and will not give you the bold hue you desire.  Spend on a few key pieces to get you buy from Spring/Summer 2102 – Pink, Corals, Green, Gold, Yellow and a Neutral Colors.

{Coral-ness + Tress}

It certainly feels like summer and I’ve finally purchased a few more pieces in coral that I’m very excited about. I’ve also purchased a bright red heel; one of the first of many bright heels in to come. Brights are beautiful and it’s almost impossible to go to the store without seeing any jumping at you. Find the right shade for your skin color and join in. It’s transforming! Another staple every girl needs is a flowy romantic skirt. This one is by Walter Baker, a brand I’ve recently fell for. The last few pieces were found from Target. I don’t go often, but when I do I always find something I can’t leave without. They currently have bright suede heels by Mossimo in almost every color.

{New Dress, New Top, New Look}

I received this amazing maxi dress from Vierick – the fit is perfect, the material is light weight and it’s SO comfortable. I couldn’t take it off it felt soo good on. Then, I started playing around with how I wanted to style it, as there is so many ways you can style a black dress. My friend gave me a couple shirts and I decided a little edge might change the feel of the outfit. I loved it ….and completed the look with my H&M go-to hat, red lips, and wedges.

I also realized I can’t go anywhere without thinking in terms of “photoshoots.” I’ve been to this area many times and I’ve never noticed the swing until a couple days ago. I couldn’t help think what a perfect place for a shoot. There are so many great spots in L.A. which makes it amazing for us bloggers!

{Yellow Skirt… Says It All}

Saturday’s event was next to perfect. Bloggers, media and friends rounded up to pamper, drink, eat, socialize, and take lots and lots of photos – seriously so much fun.  Here’s a quick snap from the day. Inspired by Spring Sunshine, I had to wear something colorful. Once I saw the color of this skirt, I knew it was a must. I love the top as it’s a little longer in the back with a split right down the middle. H & M is on fire!
