How To Wear A Camo Jacket, Go To Jacket for Winter, best Came Jackets

Before this winter season, I’ll admit it, a camo jacket was a little intimidating. I mean, I’ve seen girls rock them (the Kardashians are known for it) and they look really sexy and chic, but for me it took me a while to figure out how to wear this bad boy. What I’ve landed on (which I usually say in all my posts and you definitely know if you have read my blog before) is you should always try to find the balance between feminine and edgy (camo jacket being the edgy piece).

When thinking how to wear a camo jacket, I decided I really wanted to wear heels to add that feminine balance. I’m shorter, so big jackets can be overwhelming – the height adds a longer leg to balance out the material on top.

I was sent this camo jacket by a really fantastic boutique in New York, They’re out of their camo jacket but I’ll be linking some others I really love. I’ve actually been considering getting another one that’s a little less bulky too.. is also worth a look as well – they have some really cute bomber jackets in stock and I also love this velvet dress for Valentine’s Day.  When checking out a brand, I love looking at their Instagram first as that’s where you’ll see all of their pieces styled in different ways.

One more note on the picture above, I’m wearing my new Daniel Wellington watch in Classic Black and a matching cuff. The quality is really good and these pieces are timeless. They’re offering Style Wax Poetic readers 15% off with code STYLEWAXPOETIC.

After putting this look together, I soon realized these jeans have become a favorite – I can’t get enough of high-waisted jeans in may life! They go with everything and are so flattering. I almost didn’t keep these jeans because I thought the rips may be a little too edgy and I felt like they flatted my backside (now who wants that?! ha). However, I’ve received an endless amount of compliments. They’ve been worn into the ground over the last few weeks! See below all the different colorways they have in this style.

I’ve been so into sportswear fashion lately, maybe it’s the old soccer player in me? If you saw my last post on minimalism, you read that I found some amazing pieces over the weekend. It’s sometimes hard to see how the fit and look of something is online, so this post will give you a better idea of some of the pieces. I’ve styled the same outfit for night which I’ll be posting later this week. :)

Hope everyone is having a great week. It’s been a busy week on my and I’m just getting around to posting these, but I’m really excited about today’s post because it’s an outfit that I feel is real representative of me. I love a little edge (like these zipper jeans) and I love to be comfortable on the weekends in booties instead of heels. I also love pieces that are a little over the top, like this textured amazing jacket. Can you believe I found it at Crossroads Trading for $11? Their buyers are really spot on and I never leave their store empty handed.

Sending you love from my couch as I catch up on this week’s bachelor. #score I’m not ashamed to admit I watch this every season! I find it so entertaining. What are your guilty pleasures? XXXX

Happy Holidays, friends! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas with family and loved ones. I spent mine in San Diego in 80 degree weather! I couldn’t believe it, but then again I could, because that’s Souther California for you.  I enjoyed it but I’ve always wanted a white snowy Christmas! Maybe one year. :)

I’ve been searching the internet high and low for some of the best deals for after Christmas. It’s the time of year where retailers literally mark everything down and try to get their season’s product to move as fast as possible. It’s THE best time to buy.

Sole Society Booties: To start, I’ve been eyeing these booties in cobalt blue for a couple months now and haven’t made the purchase. They are now marked down to $40, such a steal. I bought them in blue but they also have them in red and grey.

Lauren Conrad Tulle Maxi Skirt: I wanted this in color, but for $30 I think it’s great in black too. I’m going to add a belt and wear it with a white crew neck t-shirt with a touch of bling around my neck.

Black & White Skirt: This is another amazing find, for only $25 plus 20% off when you sign up on Facebook and share your purchase link! I saw my fellow fashion blogger wearing it a while back and it looks great on. There’s tons more from SheInside that you’ll have to check out while you’re there. Faux Furs are the must-have of the season and this one is only $40. Wear it with black leg gins, boots and a simple t-shirt. If fur is too much, this cobalt blue jacket is another fab find!

Shop the rest of the goodies below and let me know what you end up getting! Have a great day beauties. XOXO

Here in LA, we’re still a little confused – what season is it? We should be thankful, I know, but I really can’t wait for sweater weather, cozy season, sunny with a brisk air. Well, Sunday felt like summer again  (reason for my dress) while it should be fall (reason for my scarf). What temperature are you feeling? I promise we’ll on get on track soon and we’ll all be talking layers and boots, very, very soon. Until then, I hope you enjoy the post. I loved how the photos turned out, golden hour did me well. XO

Sundays are amazing. You can lie in bed if you want to all day or go explore your city for shopping and brunching. But one thing is key, your Sunday fit should be comfy, or it just doesn’t seem like Sunday. I decided to play around with some prints, using stripes as a center point, my new army vest and of corse, leopard!

The post is about shopping YOUR closet. Just when I feel that I desperately need to go shopping (and I know you get that same urge), I remember, there’s a few pieces in that closet of mine that are getting pretty dusty and ready for a good wear. It’s truly silly to think sometimes just how many clothes most of us really do own. I wore this dress for many occasions back in the day: church, a wedding, gradations, and  today, it’s still as beautiful. It’s literally over 6 year old, which means, it’s good design. Instead of dressing it up, I paired it with a jean jacket, a bright clutch and a beautiful head crown by Eddera Paris.

I’m sorry I haven’t been around all week, it was crazy busy with work and I am also hosting an event next Saturday in LA. It’s been taking up so much of my time, but it will well be worth it. I really can’t wait!

This post was inspired by a piece I picked up at the TopShop shopping preview at The Grove. I love the color and print of this body conscious dress. Emerald was announced as the color of the season by Pantone, so I was happy to pick up a piece to add to my wardrobe.

It is somewhat of a tight dress but it’s still conservative; long sleeve and crew neck. I definitely recommend it for all shapes and sizes – it’s a flattering piece. There are so many ways to style it but I’m always a fan of layering with vests – jean vests, fur vest, you name it. I picked up the jean vest from Loehmanns for $20 – total score since it’s Current / Elliot. My new boots were also a great purchase since it’s end of the season. I love Chloe and these are by their diffusion line, SEE by Chloe.

If you read my blog often you know I definitely do not take myself too seriously and I am really a goof! We had a little fun at the end of our shoot trying to perfect the ‘jump’ pose. HA. Sometimes you just have to be a little silly, you know?!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend. I have plans to lay on the beach with friends today and bask in the sun (yay!), then an amazing wedding event for bloggers and media at the Bel Air Bay Club, Los Angeles tomorrow. My amazing brother bought me Lakers ticket, so that will be tomorrow night – I can hardly wait! I haven’t been to a Lakers game since a little girl. Follow me on Instagram at @stylewaxpoetic or comment below so we can stay in touch. I’d love to get to know you too. XO

I love this dress. I’ve been called “Carrie Bradshaw” before, mainly when I have curly hair, but this dress really makes me feel like Sex In The City – LA version, of course, and who wouldn’t want that?

There is something to say about sequence –  it  can really make an outfit pop. I wanted to tone this overly girly outfit  down a bit, so instead of wearing a simple heel, I wore a black bootie, which gave it a bit of edge. Another way I love to add a bit of edge to an outfit is with a leather jacket. If you don’t have one, invest! If you feel your outfit is a little to dressed up for the occasion, try switching up just these two things and it can really make an outfit cool, instead of too fancy.

We had such a good day on Sunday. We wandered around LACMA shooting, playing, relaxing in their adorable cafe – it was, a perfect Sunday.

If you follow my Instagram, you probably have noticed I’m obsessed with these beautiful leaves lately! I love the seasons and it’s nice to know Los Angeles actually does have them, at least a little.

My outfit today was inspired from these lovely printed pants.  A bold pant is easy to outfit as the rest of the outfit can be pretty simple (blacks, whites, etc). These pants are one of my recent purchases from the Kelly Wearstler sample sale. If I could, I would shop all year long at sample sales, as I still can’t really believe how well I did.  I will be posting more on this to come, but be sure to sign up for Daily Candy for their daily newsletter if you haven’t. They list all the great sales in town!

For the top, I’ve always wanted to try out the the cropped look. A bandeau is a great purchase and you’ll find you use it all the time. Of course you need a jacket or cover-up to wear with it, so I threw on my employees only inspired zipper jacket!

I wouldn’t suggest wearing this out in the day, but for a night time out with your girls or a funky gallery opening, go for it! For a more causal look, this can be paired with a simple t-shirt and wedge booties.
