FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY THURSDAYS

{Fashion Photography Thursdays || Girl Crush On Poppy Delevigne}

Total girl crush on the adorable Poppy Delevigne. I love the styling here, pulled from Natalie Joos’ Tales of Endearnment. Poppy Delevigne, 25, and her sister Cara, are regular fixtures on the fashion circuit, both stunningly gorgeous and have chic style. Poppy has notched up campaigns for Anya Hindmarch, Mango and Burberry and is making he mark in the industry, and I am sure you can see why. She has eclectic taste and Natalie Joos writes she recently cast her in a short film by Fancesco Carrozzini for Imagine Fashion with Elisa Sednaoui, Paz de la Huerta and Zoe le Ber, stating “She was stunning.”

{ Mark Borthwick’s “blown-out” Fashion Photography}

“Marketing campaigns often tell the story of a dream like romance, a mix of fragility and nature. Photographers are capturing soft emotions and a senses of self within the women. “

Mark Borthwick is a British photographer now living in Brooklyn, New York. His photos are often minimal and crisp, yet somewhat ‘blown-out’ in terms of colour saturation. He has been known for of  Vanessa Bruno’s photography campaigns, along with some photos below for Rag and Bone. He’s been seen in Vogue, Puple, and Index.

Fashion Photo Thursdays || Photos From Paris With Melanie Rodriguez

I am not surprised at the least to learn that this moving photographer is from Paris. There is sense of dramatism mixed with beauty and also a delicacy that is apparent throughout her photos. You can also tell that she loves what she does.  What do you think? Do you enjoy her work?

Paris based photographer Melanie Rodriguez has been shooting ever since she discovered the dark room, back in high school. With an unique style, her portfolio of work includes everything from artistic pictures of children to elegant fashion shoots. Her work has been featured in publications such as Codigo 0640, Psychologie Magazine and Papier Maché, and she says this about her inspirations:”- Lots of things, photographers like Paolo roversi, Sally Mann, Francesca Woodman, Guy Bourdin and so much more… And of course life, and my daughter, i love to take picture with her, she’s very inspiring.

Style Wax Poetic Monthly | August 2010

The month of August is at an end and it’s the first day of September, wow. Life flies by, and so do the posts on blogs. The disadvantage of reading from a blog, unlike reading from a magazine, is that great information can be here and gone in a few days.  I’m starting a ‘Monthly Round Up’ post which breaks down everything I covered in August.

Music Mondays featured Ra Ra Riot, Animal Collective, School of Seven Bells, and Blonde Redhead. As usual, most Music Mondays feature a free MP3 download.

Summer Style With Friends featured Jen Elias, Fashion Editor of SJ Helium, Flor De Maria, PR specialist and blogger at Flor De Maria Fashion and Payton McClure, Fashion Designer living in New York City.

Photo Thursday – The Wanderer

Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.

Plato quotes (Ancient Greek Philosopher 428 BC-348 BC)

These photos spoke to me. Not only because they resemble the current climate and style these days – simplicity, hippie, and a pull towards natural beauty, but the the way the project is described:

The-Wanderer-Set is a  project inspired by the idea of leading an unsettled life.  “To be a wanderer means to go astray from the ordinary, to ramble on ideas, all in all leading to something unexpected and beautiful.” — Space 15 Twenty

Photo Thursdays – I Like Living In A Dream.

“Fashion is only the attempt to realize art in living forms and social intercourse.” Francis Bacon, Sr. quotes (English Lawyer and Philosopher. 1561-1626)

A photo should take you out of the world your living in and into another world made by the photographer. I found this beautiful blog Times Are Hard For Dreamers on Lookbook.nu and I was captured instantly! I don’t know about you, but I like living in a dream. Just watch out ahead. xx

Photo Thursdays – Sacha Maric

Okay, this is late, yes it’s Friday. Things have been a little crazy on my end, but this post to me is worth the wait. Hope it is for you too. Holy amazing if you ask me. I’m beyond inspired.

This is the work of Sacha Maric who’s based between Copenhagen and London.  I find it again, similar to the last photographer I posted on from Ben’s Blog, amazing and inspiring that he has been working professionally for about 4 years.  He says this about his inspirations: “I’m inspired by unconventional approaches to art. be that photography, film or music. Nothing is more exciting than having your eyes open to a new perspective or take on things. Also, my surroundings, the mundane things that cross my path in everyday life. Friends, family and my daughter. The dark and cold Scandinavian winter and the rejuvenation that I feel when spring arrives.” (Ben Trovato Blog)  See Ben’s Blog for more of his work and stay tuned for a book coming out soon!
