Project Trade Show || Lyric Culture

Can't Buy Me Love Necklace

Born To Be Hoops

Heartbreaker Ring

I’ve always thought music and fashion go hand in hand. One inspires the other.  Lyric Culture has found a way to combine the two in a legit way.   LA based company, only a few years old and doing known across the globe.  Who wouldn’t know them with licensing deals with all of the major music publishers including Sony, Universal, Warner, EMI and others.  We have created a variety of products inspired by the lyrics of legendary artists like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Pat Benetar, KISS, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Joan Jet, Elton John, and Janis Joplin.

Find more on them @ www.lyricculture.com

What do you think? I think it’s pretty clever and fun. Great gift ideas too.

Have a great weekend. xx

Style Wax Poetic Monthly | August 2010

The month of August is at an end and it’s the first day of September, wow. Life flies by, and so do the posts on blogs. The disadvantage of reading from a blog, unlike reading from a magazine, is that great information can be here and gone in a few days.  I’m starting a ‘Monthly Round Up’ post which breaks down everything I covered in August.

Music Mondays featured Ra Ra Riot, Animal Collective, School of Seven Bells, and Blonde Redhead. As usual, most Music Mondays feature a free MP3 download.

Summer Style With Friends featured Jen Elias, Fashion Editor of SJ Helium, Flor De Maria, PR specialist and blogger at Flor De Maria Fashion and Payton McClure, Fashion Designer living in New York City.

PROJECT TRADE SHOW || LA BASED AS IS, Collection Review

More PROJECT greatness! I stumbled upon another great line based in LA, AS IS, a casual, soft knit, hippster attracted line. With the past season fashion trends bring influence from the EAST, I’m loving feathers, beads, and leather influence, especially when it’s on a modern cut T-Shirt or Harem pants. The line is pretty casaul, a bit edgy and a in a way, also sweet. Price points are reasonable from $40 -$80 average.

Their booth was really busy, great sign, and the girls who run their Sales and PR were styl’d to a T(see top). Another LA based line I never knew about. WE LOVE THAT!

PROJECT TRADE SHOW 2010 || Falling Whistles

WEAR YOUR PROTEST AND JOIN A GROWING COALITION FOR PEACE IN CONGO.

I had heard of Falling Whistles, but never really knew what the company represented. I found them at PROJECT to find out and take a few pictures.  They are, truly, a company I’ve grown to admire and support. Read on. Maybe not the most upbeat story, but the happy ending comes with what they are doing and what YOU can do. Buy yours today HERE

A journal  entry from the  creator of Falling Whistles….

Each had been abducted.  Pluced from their homes, schools or farms. Each had been tied up and beaten. Each had been forced to kill

…many of us have heard the stories of child-soldiers. Invisible Children and stories such as A Long Way Gone have granted us glimpses into their tortured lives.

I had heard. Known.cared. I had even reacted and raged. But when these boys told me of the whistle blowers, the horror grew feet and walked within me.

Captured by Nkunda’s rebel  army, some boys not big enough to hold a gun were given merely a whistle and put on the front lines of battle.

THEIR SOLE DUTY WAS TO MAKE ENOUGH NOISE TO SCARE THE ENEMY AND THEN TO RECEIVE – WITH THEIR BODIES – THE FIRST ROUND OF BULLETS.          Lines of boys fell as nothing more than a temporary barricade.

WITH FALLING WHISTLES, THEIR ONLY CHOICE IS TO GEIGN DEATH OR FACE IT.

Project Trade Show | UNDREST

Walking through the many isles through PROJECT Trade show, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed with the many designers, many booths, you find yourself questioning where to spend your time and who to visit! But then, there are a few rare booths that draw you in, eyes pierced, legs shuffling, totally capitivated. For me, it’s new designer love that I get a total high from. One who comes out of no where with amazing product, a fantastic marketing and business sense and a smile. That’s how it went down with myself and UNDREST. They are LA based line, only a few years old, and killing it. They do swimwear mainly, but also really cute RTW pieces and lounge wear. It has cute vintage feel, beach inspired, floral cottons, and mesh overlay pieces. Their flagship store is on Robertson and newly opened, Venice California. See for yourself why I’m loving these…

PROJECT Trade Show | Nolita Ra-Re 2011

My eyes saw, they met, they fell, HARD.   Nolita Ra-re, a New York based designer who like has climbed the list to become one of my favorite jewelry designers right now, big time.

I went to Project Trade Show this week, which happens twice a year in Vegas and features all of the best designers across the globe. They have the opportunity to show and sell their next season and current product to the top buyers, press and media outlets. Any designers who are somebody need to be at these shows.

Don’t forget to get your daily fix on Style Wax Poetic Facebook Edition by clicking HERE. xx

Nolita Ra-re is a full line offering clothing for men, women and accessories. I love the concept and the brand but the jewelry was something that I couldn’t take my eyes off.

RA RE is the men-women’s collection that has been created to fill a gap, to satisfy those who are always seeking something new, those hunters of cool ready to defy the improbable so as to emerge from the crowd.
This is the underlying spirit and idea of every Ra-Re collection, which knows no stereotypes, has no preconceived ideas, but is a fashion that puts character before image.-

Mixed metals, gold, rose, silver and more, thick multiple chains, beautiful stones, see the pictures to see for yourself.
