2016 was a great year for fashion.
Nudes and blush tones came to rise. Sneakers, joggers and sweatshirts were in popular providing every fashion lover some comfort… finally. We were introduced to new textures like velvet, making our outfits just that more interesting. One thing that really stood out to me, though, was the resurgence of fashion brands in 2016 from the 80s and 90s era. Thanks to influencers and some cool campaigns launched by these brands, we’re back in love with brands we knew as a child. Can you think of any off the top of your head? I bet you can.
The power of influencers is really amazing. I remember starting to gravitate towards Calvin Klein after they launched their #InMyCalvins campaign. I kept seeing beautiful, effortless photos of people relaxing in their Calvins…and I became hooked. I love their hoodies, sports bras and more as the brand just screams Saturday afternoon lounging. My FAVE.
It took me a while to get on the Levis tip, but they’ve definitely made their way back over the years, specifically 2016. A lot of people buy their Levis vintage, which is much cheaper and I’d say the way to go if you have the time and resources. My friend Annette at A Vintage Splendor is great at this!
I, on the other hand, purchased these Levis from Nasty Gal as I just haven’t had the time to search, but it’s on my list of things to do, if only for the thrill of the thrift. I love my Levis but I’m also wanting a pair of skinnies, a jean jacket and more….Levis are just classics and a brand that definitely made themselves cool again. Another great gift to us from 2016.
I thought it was kinda funny because both my nice (who is 12!) and I wanted similar pieces for Christmas this year – anything Adidas! This brand is pretty incredible, for gym clothing yes, but more so for it’s casual cool streetwear high-fashion vibe. A simple white or black Adidas tee looks amazing with boyfriend jeans and stilettos. If you’re feeling a little bolder, they have some amazing colors and prints too! See below how some cool girls are wearing Adidas these days.
Another brand that really took off this year was Puma, many because of the Puma x Fenty collection by Riahanna. I don’t own anything Puma yet but I saw these amazing two pieces online at Asos.com and I was VERY close to purchasing them.
