When I think of living the good life I think of 80% exploration and 20% relaxing, the key to a good life! I remember watching a documentary on “How To Be Happy” and one of the things that made that person happy was having new things in their life: whether that be a new hobby, new location or new challenge. For me that new thing is exploring.
One of my recent trips was to Sonoma to attend a beautiful wedding with The Knot! I love exploring the central and northern coast, there’s nothing like rolling hills and open land, filled with beautiful wineries. In addition to the great scenery, I was floored by my stay at The Gaige House, a Four Sisters Hotel. (pictured above)
When I’m really burnt out from work and life, and especially during summer, alI I really want to do is lay by the pool and relax. Palm Springs has become one of my favorite places to do just that; This was a picture from Kelly GoLightly’s fab soiree last summer and their Palm Springs home.
This year I made it to Coachella and again to Palm Springs for a weekend getaway with the girls to the Avalon Hotel Palm Springs. I can say I really enjoyed my stay although they were under construction – now it’s apparently done so I would recommend staying here. Great tacos by the pool as well.
I’m really lucky that my hometown is somewhere beautiful, because there are days like this where I get to spend time with family and pretend I’m a surfer. San Diego is the perfect weekend getaway from Los Angeles.
There are so many places on the list with much to explore, but being on the go as much as I am, having a full time job and a side business running Style Wax Poetic, I can secretly say some of my favorite times are a night in. How I love to make or order in a good meal, cozy up on my couch with candles and watch a good movie or catch up with some magazines. Another secret I’ll share with you is I have dessert almost literally every night! I treat myself to something sweet and it ends my night off right. Some good choices are Skinny Cow’s Caramel Divine Filled Chocolates or their Ice Cream Bars. I don’t drink coffee too late at night but they have an amazing Iced Coffee to get your morning started right after a restful evening.
